Project Description
Spanning the 92-mile length from Los Angeles International airport (LAX) in Los Angeles County to March Field in Riverside County, the California Maglev Project will serve as part of a proposed 273-mile network of intra-regional high speed lines connecting Southern California's airports and major activity centers. Two additional lines are currently under study. The LAX-to-Palmdale line would link the high-desert community in northern Los Angeles County to the San Fernando Valley and the central city. The LAX-to-Irvine line would connect west Los Angeles County to Orange County.

The California Maglev proposed system design is based upon magnetic levitation technology developed by the German consortium Transrapid. Under development for the past 25 years, the German Ministry of Transport has certified the technology for commercial operation. It has been proven in demonstration runs on Transrapid's test track in Emsland, Germany.
